The degree course for legal experts in public administration aims to provide graduates with a solid education, not only of a cultural and legal nature but also in more strictly professional terms, enabling them to carry out specific tasks for public administrations as well as for state-owned and private companies in the so-called third sector, on a national, European and international level.
In a period of modernization of public administrations, the course is geared towards an understanding of the new context in which public administrations operate and aims to give future legal experts a thorough awareness of the new regulatory and organizational framework involving the public sector in its internal relationships, as well as the private sector, both in Italy and abroad.
To this end the course provides students with a good basic knowledge of legal matters relating to public and private law, besides ensuring the acquisition of the basic notions of the history and philosophy of law, as well as economics; it also gives students a detailed knowledge of those areas relating to the subjects applicable to the organization and activity of public administrations, the sources of law and their interpretative rules, with particular reference to the most recent instruments introduced for creating a new and efficient administration that is mindful of the needs of impartiality and protection of rights and interests of persons, companies and territorial and social communities.
Besides providing a patrimony of legal knowledge that enables graduates to apply and interpret current laws and regulations correctly, the course also offers subjects such as the study of other legal systems (including European Union law), IT skills and the knowledge of a foreign language, in particular of the legal and technical lexis.
This degree course aims to create future professionals capable of working in the organizational structures of public administrations or in the field of consultancy and in external collaboration with public administrations.
By the end of the course students should be prepared to sit for competitive examinations in the public sector, particularly in the organizational sphere of public administrations, or alternatively working externally in collaboration with public administrations, as consultants or self-employed collaborators, with the task of assisting in, consulting and implementing planning activities, organizing human resources, and managing administrative procedures.
This degree course enables graduates to sit for a wide range of public competitive exams for medium-high level professional posts and for positions of responsibility for which a specific legal and administrative preparation is required.
Besides the position of public official for public bodies and organizations, both in Italy and abroad, graduates may either work directly for public administrations or externally as consultants involved in the planning and organization of public administrations and in managing administrative procedures resulting from outsourcing which is ever more frequently used by public administrations today.
