CLIL is an acronym first coined in 1994. It stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning. It is a methodology for learning content – such as science or history – through a foreign language. Foreign language teachers can use CLIL in cross-curricular contexts, while subject teachers can teach their subject using a foreign language as the language of instruction. The European Union is strongly promoting CLIL to prepare citizens for the demands of the 21st century where everyone should be proficient in two further languages in addition to their native language.
The aim of this website is to provide a user-friendly free access database of resources for anyone wishing to learn more about CLIL. It is an ongoing project still in its early stages and will be regularly updated.
