This teaching programme provides useful tools to understand the physiological and productive responses of farm animals to different farming conditions in order to ameliorate safety and quality of animal productions. It aims to stimulate a critical view of the relationship between products and environment finalized to improve the environmental sustainability in animal farming and production.
The student must know the different livestock production systems and the fundamentals of animal biodiversity, understand the interactions between animal rearing and the quality and sustainability of animal products; be able to choose and apply adequate techniques for animal management and welfare.
