Starting from clinical cases, these will be examined and analyzed with meetings in small groups and with seminar activities.
Preventive and community dentistry aims
to provide knowledge on the public dentistry as part of the main diseases that may affect homogeneous social
groups both within the national health system, both from the research point of view; to develop a holistic
concept of dental health as part of the overall health and provide basic knowledge about the tools suitable for
community interventions in hazardous environments. Dental hygiene will focus on local and systemic
determinants of periodontal disease and on its pathogenesis, the disease indices to diagnose it and monitor
its progress. It will also evaluate the tools for initial and surgical treatment of gingival lesions.
Recognition of the prevalent pathology in large population groups. Evaluation of common, personal and environmental risk factors. Setting up an adequate diagnostic-therapeutic program.
Evaluation of individual candidates during the collective discussion and seminar activity.
